MAMI Swakopmund, Namibia, successfully held its Annual Retreat and Public Commitment in preparation for the Pentecost Feast from 22–24 May 2026 under the theme: “Pilgrims of Hope, Renewed by the Holy Spirit.” The retreat was facilitated by Fr Sidney Sakala OMI and became a profound moment of prayer, reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth.

In his retreat writings and notes, our Founder, St Eugene de Mazenod, emphasized the importance of stepping away from overwork and the noise of the world in order to recalibrate one’s relationship with God through deep silence and reflection. Inspired by his charism, we as Oblate Lay Associates took time to encounter God more deeply, prepare our hearts for the Pentecost Feast, and renew our commitment to the Oblate Charism within our own state of life.
The retreat culminated in a beautiful celebration of the Annual Public Commitment, where 20 members renewed their commitment and 1 new member made a first commitment to the Oblate Charismatic Family.
We were also greatly blessed by the presence of the OMIYON youth from the Western Deanery, whose youthful energy and zeal enriched the retreat immensely. Their active participation reflected their response to the prayer of Jesus Christ: “That they all may be one, as I am one with my Father.”
Praise be Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate 🙏🏽🙏🏽
